Three Consecutive Chestertown Mayors Endorse Sam Shoge for Kent County Commissioner

Meghan Efland, David Foster and Chris Cerino cite firsthand experience working with Shoge on the Chestertown Town Council

Sam Shoge announced today that his campaign for Kent County Commissioner has earned the endorsements of current Chestertown Mayor Meghan Efland and former mayors David Foster and Chris Cerino. The three consecutive mayors have each served alongside Shoge on the Chestertown Town Council, bringing a firsthand perspective on his leadership and commitment to the community.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Sam Shoge on the Chestertown Town Council, where I’ve seen firsthand his creativity, collaborative approach, and commitment to our community,” said current Chestertown Mayor Meghan Efland. “As a local business owner raising his family here, Sam brings an important perspective and a voice that I believe has long been missing at the County level.”

Shoge and Cerino were first elected together, with Cerino becoming mayor and Shoge representing Ward 3. Their time in office together established a working relationship rooted in service to Chestertown.

“Sam and I were elected together, and I saw early on his energy, fresh ideas and dedication to Chestertown. He understands how local government can make a difference in people’s lives, and I’m proud to support him for County Commissioner,” said former Mayor Chris Cerino.

Shoge later returned to the Town Council as the Ward 1 representative, filling the vacancy left when Foster became mayor following Cerino’s resignation.

“When I became mayor, Sam Shoge returned to the Town Council ready to serve, and I greatly valued his thoughtful approach and willingness to work. I know that he will bring those same qualities to the County Commission along with Thad Bench and John Carroll, and together they will be able to make the strategic plans and tough decisions so necessary to move our county forward,” said former Mayor David Foster.

Together, the endorsements reflect support from leaders who worked with Shoge during both periods of his Town Council service. They highlight the experience and relationships he would bring to serving residents across Kent County.
