New online resource gives residents a clear view of housing costs, local homes, and community data
Sam Shoge, candidate for Kent County commissioner, has published an online housing data dashboard to help residents understand housing conditions across the county. Available at housingdata.electsamshoge.com, the dashboard brings together information about home prices, housing costs, household size, existing homes, and new homes permitted for construction.
Residents can explore countywide figures or select a community to see local data. Charts and plain-language explanations describe what each figure measures, the years it covers, and where to find it in the supporting housing study.
The dashboard gives residents a way to examine questions that affect daily life: How have home prices changed? How much of their income do households spend on housing? What types of homes does Kent County have, and how old are they?
“I’m data-driven because this is quite literally what I do professionally,” Shoge said. “My work involves gathering information, checking what it tells us, and making it useful to people making decisions. I’m bringing those same skills to this campaign so residents can review the evidence for themselves and take part in an informed discussion about housing.”
Shoge is a co-founder and partner of Rivers & Roads, the consulting firm behind Every Way Home, the independent Kent County housing study that supplies the dashboard’s data. The study applied and tested the research approach developed through the firm’s statewide housing analysis, Twenty-Four Marylands. Kent County did not commission the research.
The dashboard presents data from the September 2026 study, with links to the full report. It explains key distinctions, including the difference between homes covered by building permits and homes included in approved subdivision plans. The figures retain their original reporting periods; the dashboard is not a current listing of homes available to rent or buy.
Residents can explore the Kent County Housing Data dashboard and access the study through its Sources & Definitions page.
