Bay Area Association of REALTORS® Endorses Sam Shoge for Kent County Commissioner

Sam Shoge, candidate for Kent County Commissioner, has received the endorsement of the Bay Area Association of REALTORS®, which serves Kent and Queen Anne’s counties.

Shoge is a real estate salesperson licensed by the Maryland Real Estate Commission. Through his community development firm, Rivers & Roads, he has worked extensively on housing initiatives. One of the firm’s largest projects to date is a large mixed-income infill development on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

“I’m grateful to the Bay Area Association of REALTORS® for its support and confidence,” Shoge said. “My professional work has given me firsthand experience with housing development and the challenges communities face in expanding their housing options. As commissioner, I’ll apply that experience to help more people afford to live and work in Kent County.”

Improving housing affordability and availability is a priority of Shoge’s campaign. He looks forward to working with residents, local real estate professionals, and community partners to expand housing opportunities throughout the county.

Shoge supports focusing new housing in Kent County’s towns and villages already served by infrastructure while preserving farmland and open space. His approach emphasizes planning for future growth, evaluating infrastructure capacity, and working with residents to establish clear expectations for the scale and design of development.

“We can provide more housing while protecting the farmland and open space that Kent County residents value,” Shoge said. “That means planning for growth in our towns and villages where infrastructure is already in place, making sure those systems can support it, and setting standards for development that fits each community. Residents should help determine the scale and design we want to see.”
